Carnegie Mellon University Database Group’s Industry Affiliates Program (IAP) seeks to foster a dynamic partnership between academia and the database practitioners at early-stage companies. As a hub for groundbreaking advancements in database systems, CMU-DB IAP has cultivated a unique ecosystem that brings together leading researchers, forward-thinking students, and industry pioneers. This program serves as a bridge between theoretical exploration and real-world application, propelling the field of databases into new frontiers while providing invaluable insights and solutions to our industry affiliates.

The CMU-DB Group hosts an annual on-campus Visit Day for our sponsors each fall semester. The goal is to bring together researchers, students, and industry partners to discuss ongoing and future projects, as well as CMU-DB’s educational and outreach efforts.

The second day is held in the Gates-Hillman Center, shifts focus to the industry side, featuring a series of informative sessions presented by member companies. These sessions offer companies the opportunity to showcase their latest innovations, products, and challenges in the database space, while also highlighting potential career opportunities for students. Attendees, including faculty, students, and other participants, can engage directly with company representatives to learn about real-world applications of database technologies, industry trends, and the skills sought after in the field. This day serves as a valuable networking platform, fostering stronger relationships between academia and industry.

All database students, enthusiasts, and connoisseurs at CMU are welcome to join.
