Please join Jeannette Wing, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Research, (and former Computer Science Department Head) for an informal discussion on professional research opportunities. All ECE/SCS and related-area Ph.D. students are invited to join in (over dessert). — Dr. Jeannette Wing is Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Research, with oversight of the organization’s core research laboratories around the world and Microsoft Outreach. Microsoft Research Labs advances the state of art in computing science, and rapidly transfers technologies into Microsoft products. Dr. Wing joined Microsoft Research in January 2013 after holding key positions in academia and government, most recently at Carnegie Mellon University and the National Science Foundation (NSF).  Wing received the CRA Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and the SIGSOFT Retrospective Paper Award in 2012.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. She received her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bio continued.
